Our Therapist

Fiona Burrows - Paediatric Physiotherapist

Fiona is originally from North Yorkshire, UK, and came to NZ for a working holiday 35 years ago, then decided to stay, and three children later she is still loving it! She has had a love of horses since she was a teenager, and rides regularly. She took over as West Auckland RDA Therapist in May 2022, when our wonderful Kate Hedges retired from the position. She works with the riders in our Therapy Programme every Tuesday morning, and also consults for Monday and Thursday riders if needed.

"Working with children who have development and neurological conditions, I could see the benefits of riding and how awesome the activity is for those with special needs. These children often miss out on other sports which often focus on walking, which is typically difficult, or not rewarding when they can't keep up. I enjoy seeing children enjoying the experience of being close to animals and also challenging themselves physically. There are very few activities that show such big gains in physical ability in such a short time and it gives me such a buzz to see the excitement on both children's and parents' faces.
I am excited to be working with a dedicated team of volunteers in an amazing environment. What a wonderful way to spend a morning!" - Fiona
