Meet the Horses
Timon
A big and sturdy 14.2hh pinto gelding with a multi-coloured tail. He used to be a showjumper and still loves to jump. Enjoys a good firm scratch along his neck and withers.
Eclipse
Gentle and patient. Beautiful and kind-natured. But she has a secret. At night, when no-one is looking, she will leap out of her paddock to go find some tastier grass to eat.
Teddy
Teddy is a 15hh bay Kaimanawa gelding. He is part of the Pony Care Scheme and is being lovingly cared for by Mel.
Kizzy
Countess Kizzy is a 14.1hh, 10yr old, pinto, bush pony mare. She has leased to us by the Maher family of West Auckland. Kizzy is still looking for a horse sponsor to pay for her care.
Chinook
Chinook is a 15.1hh, 18yr old, strawberry roan, Stationbred x Clydesdale mare. She is the most recent addition to our herd and is doing very well learning a lot of new things to be able to fit into our programme. Chinook is a big strong girl so will be able to carry some of our older, taller riders.
Shorty
Shorty is a 14.1hh, 16yr old, bay, station bred x quarter horse gelding. He was purchased from a local family. Before that had been used occasionally by Auckland Central RDA so he knows what to do in RDA sessions. Shorty is a cheeky little fellow and when he gets bored with waiting, he likes to let you know by pawing the ground.
Paris
Paris is a 13.2hh, 18yr old, grey, Welsh cross mare. She was purchased from a local family and before joining us had done pony club and a bit of cowboy challenge, so she is comfortable with most of our RDA props and equipment. Paris has a nice forward walk for a small pony and gives our smaller riders a nice active ride.
Copper
Copper is a 13hh, 17yr old, liver chestnut, Welsh gelding. He was purchased from a family from Morrinsville where he had been a much-loved family member for many years. After all his riders had outgrown him the family were looking for a nice forever home for him and we were fortunate enough to fit the bill. Copper slotted straight into our programme as though he had been doing RDA for years and is a great favourite with everyone.
Jip
This is Jip, a 13.2 hh, 10 year old English Riding Pony. We sincerely thank Jenna and Eva Hovelle from Ohakune for entrusting us their special pony.
Bear
Bear is a 14.2hh rising 8yr old chestnut Kaimanawa gelding who was purchased a few weeks ago from Helensville. Bear will also be looking for a Sponsor to help cover his annual costs.
Ponies Needed!
We are looking for another great pony to join our herd. 13hh to 15hh. Do you know a horse that might like RDA life? They get lots of attention, and the best of care!
