Our Horses
RDA horses are very special.
They have a huge impact on the lives of our riders.
They are chosen for their temperament as well as their size, shape, gait and soundness.
They are kind and careful with the most vulnerable of riders.
They are cool and calm when there is a lot going on around them.
They are responsive to a rider’s early attempts to direct them.
They can handle special equipment and adaptive aids used with different riders.
Some of our horses are trained to respond to voice aids, hand aids and neck-reining.
They provide a very even symmetrical motion, which is most therapeutically beneficial.
They are just the right size for our side-walkers to be able to assist the riders, while still being large enough to provide a therapeutic gait.
They are specially trained in RDA work, and closely monitored, with refresher training given when needed. Because they have multiple people working with them throughout each working week, we are very careful to ensure they have one main regular carer who is perfect for them, and that they are treated with consistancy and excellence.
They are kept healthy and happy through careful management, care, regular exercise and outings. And of course they are loved dearly!
Forest rides
Our ponies have been enjoying some forest adventures with their carers over the summer holidays.
Beach rides
What a lovely time they have at the beach.
